Flying enemies: give air and ground different defenses

Tidehaven’s flying enemies go over walls and target your defenses. Use Interceptors for air coverage: the developer describes them as strong against air and weak against ground targets. The Nova Mortar adds slow-firing area damage against large hordes; use the explicitly described Interceptor role when planning anti-air.

Use the rule for your next decision

  1. Cover the defense line from above

The official Tidehaven announcement describes flyers bypassing walls and attacking defenses. Treat a wall line as ground protection: arrange air coverage around the defenses flyers can reach. The source recommends several Interceptors around a base but gives no reliable spacing, count or range for a universal layout.

  2. Assign each turret the job it is described to do

Match your defense choice to a role stated in the official announcement. The source describes the Nova Mortar’s firing speed and area damage, but does not establish all its target restrictions.

  3. Read older difficulty reports with the balance patch in view

On October 30, the developer listed v0.3.9 changes: Wall, Gate and Turret health doubled; flyer damage reduced by 50%; food and water production rates increased by 50%. A report from before those changes describes a different balance state. The patch does not establish that every defense layout now survives.

  4. If air still overwhelms you, check the failure type

If flyers are reaching and destroying turrets, review air coverage and the survival of the defenses being targeted. If ground hordes are the failure, review the ground line rather than adding only Interceptors. After completing the first region, Buffs are another developer-supported way to lower difficulty; exact unlock-menu controls are not established here.

What success looks like

Your plan includes an answer to flyers over the wall and enough defense for other approaches. Judge whether the relevant defenses survive a wave, not by the wall count alone.

If you are still stuck

The sources do not publish exact turret range, material requirements, a guaranteed arrangement or a universal number of Interceptors. Use the current build information when placing them; difficulty complaints are not proof of present balance.
