Terraform breakthroughs: what triggers the 5× jump?
The 5× breakthroughs occur when total Terraform (air + water + heat) reaches 5,000, 50,000 and 500,000. The developer says they affect Terraform only and mainly keep its display readable. They do not multiply your food or water production by five.

Use accumulated Terraform values in plain units: 1k = 1,000. Enter 51800 for a display of 51.8k. Rounded HUD values give an estimate.

Use Terraform values, not supplies or production rates
Enter the accumulated air, water and heat Terraform totals in the checker. Water Terraform is not your stored drinking water or the output of a Water Purifier. A rounded HUD value such as 51.8k is approximate: use 51800 if that is all you can read.
Compare with the published thresholds
These are the three thresholds stated by the developer on October 29. The checker adds the inputs and reports the next one; it does not calculate production rates, apply a 5× multiplier, or invent later breakthroughs.

Crossing a display threshold is not a population objective. Terraform comes from building and upgrading Terraforming structures and keeping them alive through waves. Standing still does not create it. Use the progress guide to separate a flat Terraform total from an unfinished settlement or relay objective.
What success looks like
You can add the three Terraform totals, identify the next published threshold, and keep the display breakthrough separate from food, water and population.
If you are still stuck
A value just below a threshold may be rounded on the HUD. Treat the checker as an estimate when your inputs are rounded. Above 500,000, no later threshold is provided by this cited explanation.
