Food and water: check your region first

You cannot produce food or water in the first region: use the supplies found in Supply Crates. Tidehaven, the second region, introduces food and water production and has fewer crates. You can consume food or water directly from any inventory where it appears; you do not need to move it into your backpack first.

Find and use the right source

  1. Region one: search for Supply Crates

If you are still in the first region, explore for Supply Crates and check their contents for food and water. The developer explicitly says this region does not allow food or water production. Searching for an unavailable production chain will not solve an empty supply problem here. No fixed crate coordinates are promised: maps were enlarged in v0.3.9.

  2. Use what you have already stored

Before searching again, check both your backpack and any storage inventories you use. The September 1 inventory update allows food and water to be consumed directly from any inventory where those items appear. Consume the food or water you need there, then check the corresponding survival meter to see whether your immediate need is resolved.

  3. Tidehaven: expect fewer crates and production

Once you are in the second region, the source rules change. The official Tidehaven update introduces food and water production and warns that Supply Crates are much less common. Use crates you find as additional supplies; do not expect the first-region crate supply to carry the whole region. This source guide does not promise a complete production-building recipe or unlock route.

  4. Ready supplies and drone collection are different checks

If purified water has already finished but your Hub is not collecting it, take that ready water manually. The October 20 Demo recording shows this recovery, followed by restoring mineral priorities. It is a dated collection failure example, not proof that all current water production or all drones are broken.

What success looks like

You know which source is available in your region, have checked existing inventory supplies, and can consume an available item without an unnecessary transfer. In Tidehaven, production availability and actual drone delivery are separate questions.

If you are still stuck

No food or water in region one: look for more Supply Crates rather than a production building. Supplies present in storage: consume them from that inventory. In Tidehaven, ready water that is not being collected can be taken manually; follow the recorded Hub recovery for that specific branch.
